Our devoted and caring husband and father, Freddie Lee Main died on August 6, 2017 at the age of 75. He was born September 1, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ethel Marie (Manning) and Charles Alvin “Shorty” Main Sr. On June 6, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Janice E. Winter. They were blessed by a long, happy marriage and the birth of two sons.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Janice; his children Freddie Lee Main II (Lynn Ann) and Kevin Keith Main (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Freddie Lee “Trey” Main III (Colleen), Kaelin Sophia Main, and Elias Kohen Main; his brother, Harley Main; and four sisters, Wynona Hurley, Carrie Webb, Eunice Goddard, and Louella Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Marie McDaniel and Ella Mae Leonard, and one brother, Charles Alvin Main, Jr.

Freddie was proud that he was born and had lived his entire life within a radius of 7 miles. He worked as a union carpenter for 43 years and built a reputation for the highest quality craftsmanship and the genius to solve construction problems that no one else could. He never replaced anything that might be patched with duct tape, and he never let go of anything that might be useful one day. He was a tireless genealogist and traveled the country and the Internet to add pieces to the story of his family’s history. He loved to watch the stars and was fascinated by the discoveries and achievements of the space program. In his later life, he discovered a love of and talent for gardening. He loved to play games, to work crosswords and puzzles, to watch movies, and to spend time with the ones he loved.

He inspired his sons to be good men, to work hard, to be independent, to never stop learning, and to cherish their own families above all else.

There will be no visitation. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Moore Cemetery, 800 SW 4th St. in Moore, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to or volunteer for the charity of your choice.

Freddie wished above all for everyone to know that he loved his family, and that they were very important to him.

We love you and miss you immeasurably.

Janice, Freddie & Lynn Ann, Kevin & Lisa
