Willie D Ray

November 24, 1932 ~ May 22, 2022 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Willie D Ray, 89, of Mcloud, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born on November 24, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Willie and Elma Ray. Willie married Nora Sweeney on August 28, 1955 in Reno, Nevada. The couple made their home in Antioch, CA. Willie worked for General Motors on their assembly line. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as a Corporal. Willie was a master-level “storyteller”. Were his stories factual or made up? That’s up to us to decide. Willie loved to read. Even in his later years he was still reading around nine books per week – because that’s all the Kindle would allow him to save at one time. He loved tinkering with things. If his kids were working on any of their cars he would “tinker” while they repaired the car. Willie was truly a one-of-a-kind soul. The world certainly couldn’t handle two of him! He “loved the wheels off” of his family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Nora; son, Brien Ray; and sister, Jean (Joe) LaVallie.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Willie (Koreen) Ray, Shelly Ray, Larry (Terri) Ray, Carey (Tammy) Ray, and Jeffrey Ray; daughter-in-law, Gayle Ray; grandchildren, Darrick Ray; Elizabeth Adams, Alvin Knackstedt Jr., and Bryce Knackstedt; Carol Roberts, Christina Ray, Crystal Bushong, David Ray, Daniel Ray, and Sean Ray; William and Robert (Elisa) Ray, and Brittney Wolfe; Jennifer and Jeffrey Ray; Lisa McKenzie, Jonathan Ray, and Nika Ashworth; along with many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He will be greatly missed.
