William Howard Atterberry, age 79, of Newalla, OK, passed away in his home on December 19, 2020.
He was born on December 12, 1941, in Weleeka, OK, to Charles and Floy Atterberry. William was married to Betty Atterberry.
He served as a member of the U.S. Army as a tank specialist and joined the OKC Police Department. William was president and CEO of Atterberry Oil and Gas and spent one year as a school teacher at a private Christian school. He ended his career as a private investigator.
William loved the outdoors, especially boating, hiking, camping and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved being around kids, especially his grandkids. William was always hard working and often worked two and three jobs to support his family. He had a great sense of humor and devoted much of his time in making you laugh and smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
William is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; three sons, Doug Gregory of Tulsa, OK, Randy Gregory of Oklahoma City, and Billy Atterberry and wife, Kim, of Moore, OK; one sister, Charlotte Sparks of Gans, OK; and one brother, Donnie Atterberry of Van Buren, AR.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Wiley of Van Buren, AR; sister, Mary Morris of Jones, OK; and two infant brothers.
