Susan Claire Martin passed from this life September 30, 2017 in Washington, OK. She was born October 22, 1944 in Houston, Texas.
Susan’s father was in the Air Force and she lived in Hawaii and Japan before they were transferred to Langley AFB. They eventually moved to Poquoson, Virginia where she fell in love with the town and the people.
She met the love of her life, Lemuel Edwin Martin, while in Poquoson and was introduced to Lem’s family and friends and fell in love with them. Susan knew Lemuel had a few rough edges but a big heart that was full of love only for her. She married him October 23, 1963 and they were blessed with a son, Lance Martin, on September 24, 1969.
Susan had a beautiful smile that never went away until September 30, 2017. Her pride and joy was her family. On December 5, 2000, the family was blessed with a sweet, beautiful granddaughter, Kali Martin.
Susan told Lemuel a few weeks before she passed that she was ready for God to take her and that she was happy with her life. She was content with what she had done and said that they raised a son that was close enough to perfect for her and she knows that Kali will be raised well and will follow in Lance’s footsteps.
She passed away without sadness, but rather full of joy and love for her 2 men and precious little girl. Susan’s passing has broken our hearts and brought moment of sadness, but we have peace in knowing of the lives she touched and the love she gave. Lemuel will always love her just as much as he did 55 years ago and her family will carry on her legacy.
