Ron Freeman was the third child born to Lucille and Bill Freeman on June19, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Putnam City Schools and after completion, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served six years including a tour in Vietnam. While serving he was united in marriage to Ginny Holder of Lexington, Oklahoma, and they have great memories of their tour of Guam, and vacation in Hong Kong. After leaving the military service Ron returned to Oklahoma, and began his own construction company, D & R Construction. He also began attending Central State University to complete his degree in Education. In 1971, Ron and Ginny welcomed their first child, a son Derek, and in 1973 another child, a daughter Kristy. They became the focus of his life! Coaching Little League teams, fostering their love of music, building sets for Show Choir, speakers or whatever they needed he was there for them! Due to his love of music, he also participated in Community Theater. Ron’s construction career took him to Stuttgart, Arkansas, where he built homes and businesses, and created several reproduction projects for the Stuttgart Agricultural Museum. This work was featured in an article in Southern Living Magazine. In 1982, Ron returned home to Oklahoma, and began an eighteen year teaching career at Moore-Norman Vo-Tech. He instructed carpentry, and cabinet making, and took great pride in the accomplishments of his students. Until his death he assisted, and supported his wife in her Insurance Agency taking care of many business details.
