Pete Martinez Jr

Pete “PJ” or “Papa Pete” Martinez Jr., 80, of Irving, TX passed away on Christmas Day, 2018.


Born on October 28, 1938 in OKC to Pete and Julia Martinez, Pete attended OKC Public Schools graduating from Central High School in 1956. He was drafted into the United States Army serving 2 years. He then spent time as a truck driver for the City of OKC among other local companies. In 1978 "Tijuana" Pete began a 40yr long & loved career with “BIG R” Roadway/YRC where he was still actively driving as a proud member of the "International Brotherhood of Teamsters".


He loved his family, his Roadway family/friends, and all of his musician friends. He loved playing music! He had a huge heart and a generous spirit.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Juan “Bobby” Martinez, and his beloved sister Rosaline “Tootsie” Cowns


Pete is survived by his brothers Freddie Martinez and Tommy Martinez of OKC; wife, Sharon of OKC; children, Diane Evans of Del City OK, Brent Martinez of Norman, Kyla Myers and husband Don of OKC, Steve Martinez and wife Nicole of OKC, Juan Martinez and wife Amy of Moore OK, Stephanie Ruttman and husband Brad of Owasso OK; 23 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and countless other family members and lifelong friends.

                                         We love you Dad and you will be forever in our hearts! 

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2nd from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19th Street, Moore, OK with funeral service at 1:30 PM with Pastor Owen Nease officiating.   Burial will be at 3:30 PM in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK.
