Patricia Ann Wilmoth passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Born on a farm in Calumet, Oklahoma, on January 3, 1935, Pat was the youngest of 12 children, born to Samuel and Christine Phillips. Her upbringing instilled in her the virtues of resilience, thriftiness, and boundless love for family that would define her remarkable life. Pat's love story began in high school, where she met her soulmate, Arthur Mirl Wilmoth (she lovingly refers to him as Mirl). Their partnership blossomed into a lifelong commitment, marked by unwavering support and shared adventures. While Mirl pursued his teaching career, Pat dedicated herself to various jobs to supplement their income. From managing a Braum's to becoming a district manager at the Daily Oklahoman, Pat demonstrated her exceptional managerial skills. She even enlisted the help of her son Sam and his friend Mike, turning work into cherished family moments. Pat dedicated herself to serving her community. Her role at the Salvation Army as an outreach worker reflected her compassionate nature, ensuring that the elderly could remain in the comfort of their homes for as long as possible. Her thrifty upbringing sparked her passion for sustainability and prudent living. She authored a book guiding others on saving money and repurposing items. Her love for thrift store adventures in her trusty Mercedes was a testament to both her practicality and zest for life. Together with Mirl, Pat cherished family moments and cherished every opportunity to travel, especially to Washington State to visit relatives. Their home, never being furnished with anything new, was a testament to their humble nature. Pat's devotion extended beyond her immediate family; she and Mirl generously raised their two nieces, embracing the joy of a large and loving household. Their 16 years as House Parents for the Oklahoma House of Representatives highlighted their commitment to nurturing others. She was strong in her faith and devoted time to the Freewill Baptist Church planning senior luncheons. Pat was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—a beacon of strength, compassion, and wisdom to all whose lives she touched.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Arthur Mirl Wilmoth; children, David Wilmoth, Perry Wilmoth, Sam Wilmoth, and Patrick Wilmoth; five grandchildren; and several additional extended family members and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Christine Phillips; and her 11 siblings, Mildred, Wilson, Jack, Grace, Lucille, Sam, Ruth, May, Virginia, Faye, and Lillian.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
