Tribute

Norma Joan Butler was born on August 23, 1935, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She passed away on November 8, 2020, in Norman, Oklahoma from a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Joan was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian who had a long-lasting relationship with her church, as well as her church family.
She was a registered nurse for over 40 years. She had a great passion for nursing and loved supporting her community. She enjoyed classical music and you could often catch her singing around the house. She loved to sit with her grandchildren and watching their favorite television shows.

Joan is survived by her brother, Kenneth Rorabough and his wife Darlene; two sisters, Sue and husband Jesse Clinton and Joyce and Dan Willis; four children, Cecilia Wiley, Teresa Keith, James Butler, and Sara Mills; three grandchildren, Thomas Keith, Rosa Murry, and Natalie Redwine; seven great-grandchildren and many extended family members.

The family would like to thank Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice Care for the excellent and loving care that they provided Joan for the last several years. We want to thank her nurse, Donna, and especially her aid, Laneesha, who became family to her.

Also, a special thank you to Donna Roberts, who was her caregiver of many years.
