Nola Mae Schuermann

December 31, 1930 ~ June 8, 2020 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Nola Mae Schuermann was born December 31st, 1930 in Tuttle Oklahoma to Orval Phillip and Alma Lee Fleener.

Nola passed away June 8th, 2020 at the age of 89.

Nola is survived by her children Doni, Mike, Patty, Gerald, and Rhonda.

Nola was preceded in death by the love of her life Ron. Ron and Nola were married 51 years, they enjoyed square dancing, camping, travel, antiquing, and - family gatherings lovingly referred to as Schuermann Shindigs. Nola always wanted to be in the middle of a crowd, that’s where she was the happiest.

Nola retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 30 years starting in the Warehouse then moving up to work in Silent Communications and as finally as an Item Manager for the B1 Bomber.

Both Ron and Nola were fun loving and loved to tease each other and everyone else. For years Mom loved to pester Ron by wearing the infamous hot pink petal scarf -which disappeared and re-appeared on numerous occasions. It always re-appeared even after being discarded in the middle of Lake Murray and being sacrificed several times in Ron’s burn barrel when she wasn’t watching.

Many wonderful weekends were spent visiting Fancy Granny’s farm or at the lake. We roughed it in tents and in camping trailers, sharing many fond memories skiing with Vann B. and Marie Morrison playing practical jokes or pranks on each other - all in good fun. Ron and Nola were members of Silver Spur Square Dancing Club and shared their fun with many lifelong friends.

Mom told each of us kids, we were her favorite -and we always believed her, not knowing she told each of us that. We will miss her quick smile and “That look” she gave us growing up. You know the one that said you had better straighten up or “behave”.

Most of all we shall miss her smile and the way she always waved us good-bye at every parting. Words fail to express what she meant to each of us, she had a way of making everyone feel special and loved.
