Mitchel Francis

Mitchel Alvis Francis, Sr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away April 10, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born December 28, 1940 to Jeff and Elizabeth (Kitchens) Francis in Canadian, Oklahoma. Mitchel was a graduate of South East High School. He attended OSU Okmulgee where he received his certification in electronics and attended continuing education courses. Mitchel served his county proudly in the United States Air Force. He married Evelyn Francis and they shared 56 years of marriage. Mitchel worked for Mikes Monroney Center at the Federal Aviation Administration for 39 years. He was member of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation. His hobbies included photography, stained glass, hunting, fishing and archery. Mitchel loved music, reading, building model airplanes and built dune buggies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Mitchel is survived by his wife, Evelyn Francis, children, Laura Francis, Mitchel Francis, Jr. and wife, Marque; grandchildren, Lyndsay Atkinson and husband, Nick, Cody Mitchum, Mitchel Francis, III and Benjamin Francis.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jeff and Elizabeth Francis; brothers, Bob and Dean Francis and great-grandchild, Taylor Atkinson.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Moore, Oklahoma. Interment is to follow at Moore City Cemetery. The family will receive guest during a visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the doctors and nurses at ISWMC Intensive Care Unit who took special care of Mitchel.
