Maria E Contreras

Maria Ercilia Contreras, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 76. Maria was born on July 19, 1946 in El Caimito, Dominican Republic to Fernando and Bernarda Contreras (Delgado). Maria’s number one passion in life was her family. She adored her children and loved watching them grow and turn into young men ready to raise their own families. She was a very strong woman and was the matriarch of her family, even from a young age. Maria lost her own mother at a very young age and raised her siblings. She helped raise some of her nephews as well. She had a natural nurturing spirit and loved to be there for her friends and family. Her other passion in life was sewing. She was a seamstress by trade, but absolutely loved what she did. She would sew her own clothes and worked in alterations for wedding gowns. It was hard on her hands and arms, but she loved it anyway. When she wasn’t sewing or spending time with her large family, she enjoyed growing her mini garden with her son Noel. She was always planting trees and tending to her fruit plants. Maria believed in not be wasteful. She sewed and repaired clothing instead of buying new clothes and she grew her own fruits and vegetables to save money as well. Maria was a very loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend and she is deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Maria is survived by her children, Noel Valerio and Cristian Valerio; siblings, Narciso Contreras, Mercedes Contreras, Maria B. Contreras, Altagracia Contreras, Iluminada Contreras, Jose Armando Contreras, and Nieves Contreras.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Bernarda Contreras (Delgado).

Friends and Family are invited to gather for a Funeral Liturgy at 1pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
