Our Heavenly Father sent Malachi Jonathan Eugene Lucas into this world on September 19, 2021. To say Malachi was born early would be an understatement. From the beginning, Malachi was in charge, so he made his grand entrance at 22 weeks, six days. From the moment Malachi entered this world, he faced many challenges with his health, but he fought hard to defy the odds against him. When some people thought he would not make it, Malachi pushed through every obstacle because he was a fighter. Even with all that Malachi was going through, he laughed and smiled through it all. With those bright eyes and chubby cheeks, he has left his mark on this world while bringing joy and happiness to all those around him.
In Malachi’s eight months on this Earth, he became quite the movie buff. His all-time favorite movie was Encanto, and best believe it was playing at 2 am on Saturday mornings. Malachi loved dinosaurs and the butt pats he would get from his NICU mama, Luana, to calm him down. Even though Lauren, Malachi’s other NICU mama, did all she could to ensure he was taken care of, the only thanks she could get from him was one raised eyebrow. Malachi adored his family. He enjoyed FaceTime sessions with his big sister Amari while looking forward to Guy Time with his Daddy and late-night cuddles with his mommy. Malachi was a precious soul that we were blessed to share time with on this Earth until God was ready to take him home. Malachi gained his wings and started his journey to eternity with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
Malachi is survived by his loving parents, Gregory and Natasha (Fuller) Lucas; sisters, Amari Kai Lucas and Amina Lucas; grandparents, Lois Caldwell and Elvis (Dianne) Fuller; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Malachi was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adonna Fuller and Jonathan Lucas Jr.; step-grandfather, Odell Caldwell; brother, Gregory Terrell Lucas Jr.; twin cousins, Jayden and Ashton Fuller; cousin Mareo Brookins and aunt, Alisha Fuller.
Friends and family may gather and visit Malachi on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 6 pm until 8 pm. We will celebrate Malachi’s reunion with our Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 1 pm. All services will be held at Moore Funeral and Cremation. Private interment will follow on Monday at Arlington Memory Gardens.
