Gladys Lucille Lindsey Tarbox – known as Lucille to friends and family – came into this world September 19, 1930. She married Ellis Lindsey January 7, 1954. After a lifetime spent dedicated to caring for others, she joined Ellis, her three sisters and parents in heaven October 13, 2018.
Always quick to smile and make everyone feel right at home, she was loved by all who met her. Her wholehearted dedication to family went beyond her three daughters, Julia Gibson, Alicia Gray and Marcia Lindsey. She was Meme to her grandchildren, Stephanie Shipley and Reggy, Hayden and Melisa Gray, and Seth Remington; and great-grandchildren Ellis and Emmett Gray. She was Aunt Seal to her nieces, Kristy and Bailey Weda, and Paula Beasley. She was a second mother to Renae and Dena’, and Darling to Ellie. She embraced her fellow churchgoers and neighbors as extended family.
She always encouraged others to pursue their dreams and made time in her life to pursue a few of her own interests – one that may surprise some. She worked side-by-side with Ellis at their family-owned drug store in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, for 30 years. She also earned both her real estate and pilot licenses.
She is flying high in heaven now with those who were waiting with arms wide open: Her parents John Paul and Fern Burns, her husband and father of her children, Ellis Lindsey, her partner later in life, Si Tarbox, and sisters, Gail Trostle, Frances Shephard, and Johnnye Pershall.
Funeral services will be Friday October 19, 2018 at 1:00 at Regency Park Baptist Church, 2001 N. Janeway, Moore, Oklahoma.
