Jimmie “Derrell” Long, age 80, passed away on November 1, 2020, in Norman, OK. He was born on December 8, 1939, in Bakersfield, CA, to Olin and Elga (McGehee) Long.
Derrell had a passion for fishing, hunting, and the casino. He was a very gifted carpenter and homebuilder.
Derrell was known for his ornery wit; however, his infectious smile and kind spirit prevailed. He was fiercely loyal to his family and a Daddy we could always count on.
His kids and his grandchildren were his greatest loves. He was so proud of each and every one of us. The time he spent with each of us was so cherished by him. He was the proudest Daddy and Pop there ever was. As we look back on our lives with dad, the lake life, softball, marriages, etc., he was always so loving and fun. The laughs were loud and the memories will always be cherished.
Derrell is preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Elga Long; son, Randy Long, his siblings, Olin Zane Long and Charles Long; and ex-wife, Alma Lee Curry.
He is survived by his children, Liz Huston, Kellie Holt and husband Danny; sister, Mary Vaught; grandchildren, Briyan Slater, Ryan Holt and wife Brittani, Corey Holt and wife Kaitlyn, and Haley Ashley; great-grandchildren, Colin Grubbs, Weston Holt, Emma Holt, Isabella Holt, Matix Holt, Elijah Holt, and Micah Holt; ex-wife, Jeannie Logan.
