James was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor. He loved being around people and had a quiet and subtle way of making people laugh and fall instantly in love with him. He first met his wife when they were younger by pulling her piggy tails. She couldn’t resist his antics for long and he later won her heart.
James loved working with his hands. He refinished furniture, made gifts for family including a toy chest for his granddaughters, and remodeled a couple of houses. He was quick to offer assistance when help was needed.
If he wasn’t outside working on something you could find him with a warm cup of coffee and a good movie. He almost always had a cup of coffee in his hand.
He was known in the family at holidays as the one that made the best potato salad and the only one who could make banana pudding just right. He always read the Christmas story on Christmas Eve and was “santa” at Christmas time passing out the presents. When he had a present to open it didn’t matter what it was he acted as if it was the best present he could have gotten and just what he had asked for.
He was known to most as “James” but to those closest to him he was known as “sweetie” “babe” “dad” and “papa”.
