On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Hillary Lee Hawkins, beloved daughter and sister, and mother of three children passed away at the age of 49.
Hillary was born on July 10, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Allen and Sharon (Johnson) Jones. When she was only 6 years old, her father passed away and the small family consisting of her mother, her sister, and herself moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where she graded from high school. While at Weatherford, Hillary attended the Awana program at Pine Acres Church and accepted Christ as her Savior.
Hillary received her bachelor’s degree in technical writing from Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree from Miami University of Ohio. On November 29, 1997, she married Paul Hawkins. They were blessed with three children: a son and two daughters.
During Hillary’s last year of graduate school, she was diagnosed with relapsing, remitting Multiple Sclerosis. This disease in many ways defined her life, but new treatments developed in recent years enabled her to go back to work as a technical writer. And while she loved her job, her greatest joy came from her relationship with her three children. Whether it was impromptu vacations or trips to the zoo, she and her children loved going on adventures.
Hillary was preceded in death by her father, Allen Jones. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Roddy and her stepfather, Gary; her sister, Elizabeth Weitman; and her three children, Scott, Allison, and Susan; as well as two uncles, an aunt, and several cousins.
A funeral will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19th Street, Moore, Oklahoma, at 10:00 am. There will be a graveside service at the cemetery in Corn, Oklahoma, at 2:30 pm. The family requests that a donation be made to advance the treatment and eradication of Multiple Sclerosis in lieu of sending flowers.
