Helen Ruth Earl was born on July 6th, 1938, on a farm in Penn Township, Clearfield County, PA. to Charles Frederick Knepp Jr, and Ethel Ruth Knepp. There was no electricity on the farm. She was born by kerosene lamps.
Ruth lived in Penn Township until 1942, when her family moved to Anderson, Indiana while her parents attended college for Ministry. They moved to several locations before settling in Effingham, Illinois in 1954. There she married Billie Joe Earl on June 30th, 1955, and that is when their adventure of 66 years started.
In her forties she went back and got her GED and in 1988 Ruth went to college and completed in the top of her class and graduated with her Dietician Degree, then went to work alongside her husband at Mid-America Christian University. After her career with Mid-America, she went on to work at Macy’s Department Store. She loved working at Macy’s. She would have people come just to have her help them. She was a hard worker and enjoyed helping and being around people. She truly loved life to the fullest.
Ruth loved to read her Bible in the morning and going out to eat with her late husband and sit on the porch with him. She enjoyed going to Joy Ares at the church and getting her nails done with her friend Lynn. She always talked about how much she loved to hear her great-grandchildren playing and being around her family. She loved talking to her sister on the phone as much as she could. She enjoyed sitting outside and watching her grandchildren play.
