Glen Richard Willard

September 1, 1950 ~ August 20, 2019 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Glen Richard Willard, 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City surrounded by loving family and friends.

Glen was born September 1, 1950 in Miami, Oklahoma to Betty L. Skaggs Willard and the late Kenneth L. Willard. He is the second oldest of six children, survived by siblings Kenneth Willard, Gerald Willard, Leonard Willard, Ruth Croy and preceded in death by youngest brother Charles E. Willard and his father Kenneth L. Willard.

Glen enlisted in the Navy shortly after high school, bravely serving for four years. After leaving the service he relocated from Key West Florida to Oklahoma where he began his career at Phillips Petroleum, from which he retired in 1986. Always a hard worker, he then was employed in sales until his final retirement in 2016.

As evident to those who were close to him, Glen loved the Lord, his family, his church, his friends, his country, his motorcycle, his coffee and his chocolate. He was very devoted to his church throughout his life, graduating from Bible School (KCCBS) in 1968. He served his Lord in many aspects from being on the church board, serving as a Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir, being an usher and greeter, to volunteering including in the nursery where he was lovingly known as the ‘baby whisperer’. He truly lived the verse found in Mark 12:30 – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Glen loved spending time with his family and friends, and would often drop everything he was doing in order to help someone in need. Known as a prankster, he also loved to laugh and ‘get your goat’ if given the opportunity. This gives way to many happy anecdotes we hope loved ones and friends find comfort and joy in.

Glen is also survived by his mother Betty L. Skaggs Willard, his wife of 30 years (1989-present), Ginna Willard and their children Jamie Rainey (Rick), Rachel Lippoldt (Ryan), and Nathan Willard; former wife Joan Willis and their two children Lori Sexton and Brent Willard (Rachel); Grandchildren Natasha, Jasmine, Corbyn, Madison, Billy, Sophie, Silas, Elizabeth and Adler along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
