Doyle Gene Denton was born Sep 5, 1938 in OKC and died Aug 10, 2018, at the OKC VA Medical Center.
He graduated from Travis High School in Austin, TX in 1956, and joined the US Air Force at age 17 where he served with pride and distinction as a radar operator monitoring incoming enemy aircraft during the cold war. Gene spent most of his adult life working in construction as a cement finisher.
In 1963, Gene and his brother began their 35 year stock car racing career under #44 and #144 at the OKC Fairgrounds Speedway. That racing tradition was passed to his sons and continues today through his grandsons.
Gene was a dedicated family man and is survived by his 3 sons, Doyle Gene Denton Jr., Danny Ray Denton and John Paul Denton, all of Tulsa; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his brother, Steve Denton (Donna) of OKC, Sister, Carol Sitcler (Frank) of Kansas City, KS and Sister, Carmen Wright (Mike) of Mustang, OK.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
Viewing will be Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
Burial will be at Resthaven Gardens Cemetery.
