Gayle Dean Hatter

Gayle Dean Hatter, who loved being called Papa, was born Friday, December 5th, 1941 on the Hatter Family Farm, in rural Dewey County, just North of Fay, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Monday, October 1st, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.


On Saturday, January 12th, 1963, the coldest day that year, he married Patsy Viola Williams, the woman who brought warmth into the rest of his life. Ironically, they celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, January 12, 2013, the coldest day that year.


Gayle and Patsy were blessed with four children, Ronnie Gregory; Rodney Hatter; Ramona Hatter, and; Rosetta Duren. They are blessed to have ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Alden Hatter, and his sister, Glenna Marie Darr.


Gayle graduated from Edina High School, Edina Missouri. He learned farming, growing up in rural Missouri, and enjoyed time working with his Uncle Harley Butler. He worked in auto parts stores, and for Fred Jones Remanufacturing, as well as farming in Oklahoma and Western Texas. He also drove sand trucks for Butler Brothers before retiring to enjoy being Papa.


His greatest accomplishment in life though, was being a Christian, a follower of Christ. Gayle was a longtime member of Eastridge Church of Christ, Moore, Oklahoma. He would never claim to be perfect, but tried to do God’s will and treat others the way they should be treated. Repentance and forgiveness granted to him was freely passed on to others.


Funeral services will be held, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Westmoore Community Church, 12609 S Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73170, Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, at Clinton City Cemetery, 415 W Gary Blvd, Clinton, OK 73601.
