Gary Ray Epler passed away on March 7, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Ok. Gary was born on April 22, 1955, to Lester Benton Epler and Betty Epler in Silver City, NM. Gary graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. Gary married the love of his life, Sheri Kaye Epler, on October 19, 1979, and they were blessed with four children.

Gary loved spending time and traveling with his wife, Sheri, children, grandchildren, and nieces. Gary loved being a dad, not only to his kids, but many others and always a “Proud Papa”. He was an avid outdoorsman and camper and loved setting up the perfect campsite. Gary loved to float the Illinois River with his family. He loved to go fishing and shooting with his son, Ryan, and grandsons. Gary also loved to grill and smoke meats for all special occasions. Gary was always excited to go play golf with his friends and family. Gary was a huge fan of OU football and never missed watching a game and celebrating all their victories.

Gary retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a Flight Chief after 30 years of service in 2013. During his many years at Tinker, he served as a Steward and as the Vice President of AFGE Local 916 during the 1990s. Gary made many close and lifelong friends during his many years at Tinker that he loved to spend time with.

Gary is preceded in death by parents, Lester and Betty Epler and in-laws, William and Hollie McCaulley.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheri Kaye Epler of Moore, OK; daughter, Emilee Palmer and husband, Michael; daughter, Summer Epler and partner, Ray Lalonde; son, Ryan Epler and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Jennifer Goetz; grandchildren, Garrett McDonough, and Ethan, Evan and Emmitt Epler; sister, Renee Holder of Noble, OK; bonus daughters, Emma, Kaitlyn, Gracie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
