Gary Dale Chance

Gary Dale Chance, born January 6, 1948, in Richmond, California passed away from this life on November 10, 2018 in Moore, Oklahoma.

Gary grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from Southeast High School in 1966, where he played football and basketball.  After high school, he served in United States Marine Corp, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooters Badge.  His military career was cut short due to an injury he sustained while training at Camp Pendleton.  While serving in the Marine Corp, Gary married the love of his life, Lequeta May Wallace, on August 10, 1968 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Gary and  Lequeta, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 

After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, Gary began working in the oil business in Oklahoma, where he ultimately became the sales manager at Sterling Pipe and Supply in Oklahoma City.  After his career in the oil business, Gary began working in the maintenance department at Moore Public Schools in 1986, where he retired as the Director of Maintenance after 25 years of service in 2011.

While married, Gary and Lequeta had two children, Ginger Deann and Garin Derek.  Gary devoted his life to his children and later to his grandchildren, and could usually be found coaching or supporting their sports teams whenever given the opportunity.  Gary enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, bowling, water skiing, snow skiing, playing in his band “Low Maintenance”, listening to music, and spoiling his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Thelma Chance; brother, Kenneth Roy; sister, Barbara Kuchynka; and grandson, Trévian Towery.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lequeta Chance of Moore; daughter, Ginger Towery of Moore; sons, Derek Chance and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City and Scott Chance and of Hutchinson, KS; brother, Max Chance of Oklahoma City; sisters-in-law, Myrna Sims and husband Harold of Houston, TX and Carolyn Vaughan and husband Floyd of Skiatook; brother-in-law, David Lawyer and wife Susan of Chandler, TX; grandchildren, Tyler McCoy, Taylor Chance, Gage Chance, Christina Chance, and Craig Chance.

Visitation for Gary is 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Moore Funeral and Cremation. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Services to honor Gary's life are 2:00p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation.
