February 26, 1930 ~ January 14, 2020 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Florence Jennie Myers Crossfield, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at her home in Oklahoma City, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Flo was born on February 26, 1930, in Fredonia, Kansas. She was one of four children of Theodore and Mary Marie (Fryer) Myers.

After graduating from high school in Lafontaine, Kansas, she met and married her husband of 52 years, Billy Lee “Bill” Crossfield on January 1, 1949. Bill predeceased Flo on January 20, 2001.

Flo was very active until the last year of her life. She grew up on a farm working with her parents and siblings where she developed a strong work ethic. She enjoyed nothing more than a job well done, no matter what her pursuit was at the time. She and Bill moved frequently with his employment in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. During these years, she was a teacher in a small rural country school, a bookkeeper, a secretary, a saleswoman, and insurance coordinator in a nursing home, and a realtor. She participated in her daughters’ younger years in their Girl Scouts and church youth groups. In their retirement years, she and Bill enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their RV, and they especially enjoyed staying in various parks and making many close friends in Colorado, Texas, and Arizona.

Flo loved crafts and was an excellent craft painter. She took great pleasure in working in her yard and flower beds and was active in her neighborhood association. She was an avid bridge player and until the last year of her life played three or four times a week. She was an excellent seamstress. She would sew matching dresses for her and her young daughters. She delighted in seeing and being with her great grandchildren. She passed time working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Family was important to Flo. She looked forward to attending and spending time with her extended family at their semi-annual family reunions.

She is survived by her brother, Don Myers, of Wichita, Kansas; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jay Leemaster, and Danita and Mark Dimick; grandchildren, Brooke (Kyle) Jones, Alicia (Eric) Delgado, and Grayson Dimick; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Emerson Jones, Mariah and Abriella Delgado, and Kaiden Harrison, as well as nine nieces, four nephews and their families. She will be greatly missed by all of them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Crossfield; parents, Theodore and Mary Marie Myers; brother, Ted Myers; sister, Ethel Penn; two brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Moore Funeral and Cremation at 11:00am. A viewing will be at Moore Funeral and Cremation on Monday, January 20, 2020, from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Flo’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Frontier Hospice, particularly to her nurse, Amy, and her aide, Hannah, for their excellent care, their kindness, empathy, and support to Flo and to her daughters.
