Dr. Ernest Love Brooks Jr

Dr. Ernest Love Brooks departed this life on February 24, 2024. Ernie was born on May 6, 1935, to Ernest Love Brooks, Sr. and Vivian E. Wallace Brooks in Memphis, Tennessee.

Ernie is survived by his brother Howard Brooks. He is also survived by his children Dr. David Lindon Brooks (Sue) in Virginia, and his son Ernest Love Brooks, III (Sheila) in Oklahoma. His grandchildren are Dr. Jonathan Brooks (Ashley), Jennifer Lane (Chris), Julie Zeijlmaker (Joris), Andrew Farnam (Hillary), Robert Farnam (Christy). Ernie was blessed with many great grandchildren: Isabella Strom, Lindon Brooks, Madelyne Brooks, Beckett Love Brooks, Pelham Lane, Kemper Lane, and Mosby Lane, Weston Farnam, Owen Farnam, and Lakota Farnam.

Dr. Brooks was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife, Susan E. Bowling Brooks, his second wife Cecilia Jonte, his sister Barbara Ann Brooks Haynes, his brother Douglas Brooks, his son Damond Brooks, his daughter Brenda Brooks.

Dr. Ernest L. Brooks graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1957. He practiced Chiropractic in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until his retirement. He was active in the Oklahoma Association and was Legislative Chairman for years. Dr. Brooks was instrumental in working to increase the scope of Chiropractic for Oklahoma. He was also the American Chiropractic Association State Delegate for years.

He was brought up Baptist, enjoyed Christian music, and was generous helping family and friends. During his young adult years he was a member of the Oklahoma Ski Club traveling to different states and to Europe. He was an avid golfer, card player, and Charter Member of Oak Tree County Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.

We will celebrate the life of Dr. Ernest Love Brooks at 11am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Moore Funeral and Cremation.
