Share Tribute:

Donna Sue Young, 67, of Oklahoma City, unexpectedly passed from this life on February 25th. She was born March 31, 1950 in Oklahoma City to Morris and Hazel Belcher (Hatchett).

Donna grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Northwest Classen High School. She graduated with the class of ’68 and then attended college at OSU in Stillwater. She married Jerry Rodgers in the 70s and together they were blessed with a son, Justin. In the early 80s, she met and married Richard Young, who blessed her with a second son, Jason. She was a devoted wife to Richard until his passing in 2006.

Donna was a homemaker for most of her life but had a special calling for children and those with special needs.  She worked at Shirley’s Little People daycare center for more than 8 years and truly loved it. Before that, she also helped to care for her niece and nephew during the day.

Donna absolutely loved to cook. She enjoyed cooking for her family and they enjoyed it just as much. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets. Throughout her life, she had cats, dogs, birds, and guinea pigs, to name a few. She loved these animals dearly.  In her free time, Donna enjoyed playing games. Some of her favorites were Backgammon, Skip-Bo, Yahtzee, and Farkle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Hazel Beltcher; husband, Richard Young; and late husband, Jerry Rodgers.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Scott Young and wife Kasey of Oklahoma City and Justin Scott Rodgers of Oklahoma City; brother, Bill Belcher and wife Susan of Oklahoma City; niece, Trisha Dooner and husband Jay of Tuttle; nephew, Ryan Belcher and wife Cacey of Alpine, TX; and Anna May, who was like a sister to Donna. She is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.

Donna will be missed forever by all who knew and loved her. Private family services will be held at a later date.
