David Simpson

David Russell Simpson of New Braunfels Texas laid down his working tools for the last time on July 10 2020. A graduate of Lawton High School class of 1980 in Lawton Oklahoma, David graduated from Texas Aerotech in Dallas, Texas and pursued a career in aircraft maintenance as a licensed A&P for more than 30 years. His profession took him to all parts of the globe including Dubai, Afghanistan, Antarctica, Germany, Honduras and many many other places. The only continent he had not yet worked in was Australia. He supported U.S. military operations and was very proud of his role in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve among others. He also served as the A&P for a NASA mission to study polar ice near McMurdo Station.

He was raised as a Master Mason in Oklahoma Lodge number 38 in Norman Oklahoma. Although the nature of his work precluded taking a role in lodge activities, he was very proud to continue a multi-generational family tradition.

An enormous fan of music, David paid particular attention to lyrics and inspired others to do the same. Some of his favorite musicians and bands included: Elton John, Queen, ELO, Joe Bonamasa, Corb Lund, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Warren Zevon. He intended to open a recording studio upon retirement and had made some great strides toward that goal with help from multiple music industry friends and local musicians. 

He regularly talked of buying a boat to live aboard. He loved hot rods and was a particular fan of Mopar products. 

He helped friends out of tight situations with very generous gifts and assistance on occasions too numerous to name. He was a quiet observer of the human condition who kept a tight circle of close friends. He was always game for an adventure. 

David is survived by his daughter Stephanie Wiltshire wife of James Wiltshire and two granddaughters, Franchesca Wiltshire and Nova Wiltshire as well as three brothers Edwin, Steve and Andy, his mother Sharrell Eads and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews

Family and friends will have a celebration of his life on 18 July 2020 in Norman Oklahoma.
