Bettie Imogene Davis, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the age of 78. Bettie was born on May 19, 1943 in Stratford, Texas to Fred and Marie Shipman. She loved flowers, especially wildflowers and irises. Bettie loved to crochet and cross-stitch. In fact, almost everyone in her family has an afghan that was hand-made by Bettie. She loved to read, she collected eggs, and was also known for her Bettie Boop collection. One of her favorite collections though was her elephant collection. Her family always knew that if they needed a gift for Bettie, it had to be an elephant because she would just adore it. Bettie was full of a lot of information – which helped her during trivia games. She was a very loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie Shipman; brother, Bobby (Kitty) Shipman.
Bettie was survived by her children, Kelly (Rebecca) Davis, Marietta (Roman) Combs, and Curtis (Kelly) Davis; siblings, Fred (Emilie) Shipman and Dyann (Melvin) Shull; grandchildren, Eric, Andrea, Jennifer, John, Matthew, Shannara, Annemarie, Dakota, and Hunter; 12 great grandchildren; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.
We will gather to celebrate Bettie’s life on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2pm at New Hope Christian Church with Pastor Steve Chambers officiating.
