Andrew David Gary

Andrew David Gary, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the age of 41. Andy was born on April 26, 1982 in Lawton, Oklahoma to David Eugene Gary and Vickie Sue McKasson (Harper). After graduation Andy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly and honorably served his country as an infantryman and deployed to Afghanistan. He married the love of his life, Leah, on August 20, 2005. They knew each other their whole lives and dated for 2 years before spending the next 17 years as husband and wife. Andy was so loved by the whole family that he and Leah often joked that maybe he should have taken the Cavner name because he truly became one of them. Together they raised their daughters, Michaela and Irelyn. He loved to fish and he loved football – as long as it was OU. According to his favorite sister to tease, Wendi, Andy was also a “world champion diver”. Andy would always throw it back to her telling her she “ran like Phoebe”. Andy was an amazing person, a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, Marine, uncle, and friend and his loss is felt deeply by all of those around him.

Andy is survived by his dear and devoted wife, Leah; children, Michaela Gary and Irelyn Gary; parents, David (Terrie) Gary and Vickie McKasson; siblings, Chrystal (Austin) Sisk, Matthew (Lauren) Gary, Dennis Gary, and Wendi Morse; beloved dog, Bruiser; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended military family, friends, and his long-time girlfriend Tawnya Carter.
Andy was preceded in death by his stepfather, John McKasson; and nephew, Hayden Sisk.

Friends may gather from 5pm – 7pm on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Moore Funeral and Cremation to share memories of Andy’s life. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Highland Baptist Church, located at 2425 SE 4th St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73160. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
