Stanley Alan McMurtrey, 72, of Moore, OK, passed from this life August 6, 2017. He was born October 10, 1944 in Oklahoma City to Elmer Buster and Jessie B. McMurtrey.

Survivors include his loving wife, Julia Kaye McMurtrey, of the home; son, John McMurtrey and wife Rebecca, of Blanchard; Son Alan McMurtrey of OKC; Grand Children Rusty McMurtrey of OKC; Madison McMurtrey and Hoyt McMurtrey of Blanchard. Brother Jim McMurtrey and Spouse Janice Fisher of OKC; Sister Sandra Wooten and husband Monti of Yukon; Sister Cindy Lindsey and husband David of OKC; Sister-in-Law Laura Griffin and husband Mike of McCloud; 4 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; EB McMurtrey and Jessie B. McMurtrey and Missy McMurtrey his beloved wiener dog.

Stanley was a one-of-a-kind man who loved his family and could grow just about anything in his garden. He spent many hours outside and was constantly working on making his garden perfect. He enjoyed the outdoors altogether and liked to fish and hunt, feed the birds, squirrels, and rabbits that visited his yard, and go on walks just to enjoy nature. Stanley also enjoyed the many family trips we all took to the mountains, he loved the nights in the cabins, camp fires and most of all his family being with him. Stanley was also one who came up with extremely unique home décor ideas and turned them into reality. If there was more than one wall in a room, then there needed to be more than one color. He used multi-colored themes on his interior and exterior home improvement projects and they always turned out amazing. He could fix anything and couldn’t sit still on most days. His pride and joy was his family and he loved family gatherings. His wiener dogs Missy, Sadie, Chloe and Oscar also held a huge part of his heart and time and one might say that he treated them like his children. His Wal-Mart family or as he called them the GANG, his true friends will forever be with him, he loved you all. Stanley will be forever missed by those who were blessed to know and love him. He lived a humble life and found joy in simplicity. He knew he had the love of a family, the best of friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Stanley’s life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, August 11th at the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation.
