Jerry Dale Byler, 67, of Moore, OK passed away unexpectedly October 30, 2017. He was born January 18, 1950 in Eugene, Oregon to Wilma “Gene” and Rosa “Maxine” Byler.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 46 years, Prathuang Byler; mother, Maxine Byler; daughters, Sandra Byler of Dallas, TX and Christina Byler of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Ramon Booker, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Christyan Booker of Moore, OK and Germaine Coulter, Jr. of Moore, OK; brothers, Lonnie and Jim Byler; sisters, Ginger Christensen and Jan Cloward.
Jerry was an avid reader and loved music. In his free time, he would watch NASCAR, OU Football, OKC Thunder Basketball, the Atlanta Braves Baseball, and any Big Bang Theory episode or Disney show.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years and 8 months of service in communications. He met and married the love of his life, Prathuang, while in the Air Force. She was the maid in his barracks while stationed in Thailand and did not speak any English. Jerry decided to learn some Thai so that he could communicate with her because it was love at first sight. He ended up asking her to marry him on a note that she took to get translated. She said yes and they began their family and were blessed with two beautiful daughters and 45 years and 8 months of a wonderful marriage.
Jerry’s family meant the most to him and he never needed several friends or materialistic things. The love of a family was enough for him and he lived and worked for them every day of his life. He will be cherished and loved forever by those who knew him.
