Hubert A. “Stick” Nelson, 75, of Moore, died July 8, 2017 at his residence.

He was born July 29, 1941 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to the late Walter Lee Nelson and Mildred Juanita Todd Nelson.

Hubert was known as “Stick” by many friends and family. He was a very sweet, caring, generous man who would do anything to help anyone. He worked very hard all his life to support his family. Stick spent 30 years of his life driving a truck and was very proud of the fact that he drove 5 million miles without an accident. Stick was, in his children’s eyes, someone they, as well as others, looked up to and could lean on for anything. He enjoyed watching the Thunder, playing dominos and being home with family. To his step-children, Dane, Rose, Sherry, and Candace, he was the example of what a father should be.

He proudly joined the US Army at a young age and was honorably discharged as a Private in 1959. He also served in and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force. Stick professed his hope in Christ. He was also the example as a Christian, spending many hours daily reading his bible. He attended the Noble Church of Christ in Noble, OK for many years and then the Central Church of Christ in Moore, OK.

Stick is survived by his loving wife, LaQueta Nelson; daughters, Candace McKiddy, Rose Bollinger (Steve), Sherry McKiddy, and Teresa Anderson (Perry); sons, Dane McKiddy and Kenny Nelson; brother, Bob Nelson; multiple grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, and great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held for Hubert “Stick” Nelson Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Noble Church of Christ, 111 N. Main Street, Noble, OK 73068.
