He grew up in this coal mining community until he joined the Navy in 1958. After living in Norfolk, VA he was transferred to Norman, OK. It was during this time that he met his wife, Patricia and they were married in January 1961. He retired from the FAA in 1984, and then worked as a consultant until his full retirement in 1998.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Moore and enjoyed serving others. Ed was an Ambassador with Havenbrook Funeral Home and Moore Funeral and Cremation. He was an avid golfer and loved by many. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family who are in Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. His greatest fulfillment came from serving his Lord and caring for his family, and he loved being a husband, father, and grandpa.
