Cas Mirl Edwards passed on to heaven October 6, 2017. His life was a life well-lived as a loving husband, father, brother and friend. Generous, warm, loving, kind, “dear, dear man”, are just a few of the adjectives that have been used to describe him. He lived his life as a role model for people to accept and love everyone, building his life around his relatives and his family of faith.

Cas was born in Graphic, Arkansas, Feb.23, 1928, and spent his youth in Eastern Oklahoma farming with his parents, Ruth and Mirl Edwards, and 11 siblings. At age 21, he married his dear Louise Armer, and they moved to Oklahoma City to raise their family. There, he worked for 25 years at Wilson Foods where he played softball with his co-workers and developed friendships that lasted a lifetime. As a young father, he coached little league baseball for his son’s team and helped his daughter sell the most Girl Scout cookies in her Brownie troop. More importantly, he and his wife, raised their children in the church family at both Grace Baptist and Sunnymeade Baptist of Oklahoma City where he served as a deacon. In later life, he worshipped at Moore Baptist Temple where he developed an extended-family with its members, becoming a “grandpa” known as Brother Cas to the children there.

We are forever grateful for his example to live life “one day at a time” and lend aid to others to make their lives easier. He greeted everyone with a smile, giving joy to those he met. Since his death, his great-nephew related a story that is an example of Cas’s nature. The great-nephew was embarrassed that he didn’t know how to swim like his friends, so dad kindly, gently, lovingly taught him to swim by making it a fun adventure.

After accepting Christ into his life, he never wavered. He truly saw the good in people, and treated all with kindness and a helpful heart. We believe that God looked down and said “come be with me, you have done enough, my good and faithful servant”.

Cas was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Edwards; his parents, Ruth and Mirl Edwards; his brothers, Earnest, Hughie, Ray, Jackie, and James; his sisters, Maybelle, Ollie, Mildred, Alion, and Georgia. He is survived by his son, Harlan Edwards and beloved daughter-in-law, Debi; his daughter, Patricia Edwards and son-in-law Denver Meacham; his grandchildren, Charles Ross Edwards and his wife Jennifer, Dacia Diane Neuffer and her husband Thom Behrmann, April Danielle Gatlin and her husband, Mike Gatlin, Cas Eugene Edwards, Matthew James Edwards, Timothy James Moody and his wife Tiffany. He is also survived by 14 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sweet sister, Oma Faye Armer and her husband Doyle Armer, and by numerous in-laws that thought of him as a brother.

In celebration of Cas’s life, a Reception will be held Tuesday, October 10th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19th Street, Moore OK 73160, for friends and family to express their condolences. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Moore Funeral and Cremation with Pastor Sven Larson officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 PM in Seabolt Cemetery in Nicut, Oklahoma.
