Bobby Lee Mirick, Sr., 77, passed from this life January 3, 2018. He was born November 24, 1940 in Pineville, Kentucky to Henry and Tiny Mirick (Baker).
Bobby served in the United States Army for 26 years as a Ranger Instructor. He was involved in Airborne Infantry and was also a Green Beret. During his several years of service to our great country, Bobby went on three tours in Vietnam and is a Vietnam Veteran. He took pride in his service and was proud to have spent such a large amount of his life fighting for the place and people he loved.
Before her passing in 2008, Bobby spent 10 years caregiving for the love of his life, Iona, when she became ill. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby loved his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tiny; loving wife, Iona Mirick; daughter, Marylyn “Lisa” Mirick; and siblings, Henry, Chalas, Alene, Mildred, Jerry, and, Hershal, Edith.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Mirick, Jr. and Christel of Kerrville, TX; daughter, Tammye Mirick and Jason Sumrall of Moore, OK; brother, Charles; sister, Lou; grandchildren, Jennifer Mathews and Shawn, Natasha Barnard and Leah, William Hudson, Rochelle Plummer and Josh, Micah McNew and Austin, and Zach Burt-Mirick; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kylie, Payci, Aydden, Scarlett, Halle, Hendrix, and Lane, and another great-grandchild due in August ; Bobby is also survived by a very special, amazing friend, Diana Childers, and a host of loving nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, extended family, and friends.
Private services for Bobby will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
