MSG Blas E. Galvan, 68, of Moore, passed from this life September 6, 2017. He was born October 15, 1948 in Mercedes, TX.

Ernest worked as an Electronic Equipment Maintenance Chief in the Army. He is a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Army after several years of service. During his military years, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Good Conduct Medal, as well as the Republic Vietnam Gallantry award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Meritorious Service award.

His pride and joy was his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. When not watching the Cowboys, Ernest enjoyed reading science fiction.

In his most recent endeavors, Ernest worked for Network Technologies Services (NTS) as a Field Engineer; a job he thoroughly enjoyed, especially the camaraderie. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Sgt. Daniel L. Galvan; and parents, Blas Galvan and Consuelo de la Cerda from Mercedes, TX.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Nelda Garza Galvan; children, Erica M. Galvan of Moore, Marc A. Galvan of New Jersey and Ernesto N. Galvan of Moore; grandchildren, Brandon, Erin, and Arianna; brothers, Ismael Galvan and Jaime Galvan; and sister, Nellie Galvan;

Services for Ernest are 2:00PM, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation.
